I was blessed to know MaryJane and Joe, mostly through the gift of having some of their children as their teacher.A blessing indeed. I also helped Mary Jane with a Cub Scout troop, yes, that quiet dear lady! Once we took them to the airport next to my home and then went back there for pizza!
It is amazing that God gave me very special encounters with them, not too long ago.
I would have lunch with my cousins at Gun Smoke and they would be there and I would always go over and talk with them for a while. Mostly about everything........!
Then I had the blessing to see Joe at Dr. Lappels one afternoon! What a joy to have had the time with him. It really bothered him that he didn't know who I was. I took care of that! then we had a wonderful conversation!! He told me the story of Meeting Mary Jane and he smiled the entire time!
To ALL of you my deepest sympathy for your loss and I know that YOU ALL KNOW God's blessings to you!
With my fondness and regards. Sheila Furr

Joe Mathis was a fantastic, fun, brave, kind and extremely vibrant man. I met Joe at a former job where he called on our foodservice staff. Upon moving his office to Buffalo, I was offered a job to run his new office. I took that job with no regrets. We worked hard and had fun at all the food shows we did.
He was most definitely the best boss ever. Hands down. He will always be remembered by myself and my family. He did it all and did it right. His family is all so wonderful, treasured by him dearly.
Will miss you Joe Mathis. Until we meet again, rest, relax and spend eternity with Mary Jane. God bless you with our Love ❤️ always & forever xo

Rest in eternal peace, Joe!
Before his entry into the nursing facility, Joe and I shared that little niche near the sanctuary ~ by the altar of our mutual patron, Saint Joseph when he came for the weekday Masses at Our Lady of Mercy church. He was always cheerful, prayerful and very humble. Joe is assured a place in the courts of Heaven.

Joe Mathis, you were one of a kind. Such a great supporter. One of the founding fathers of LeRoy Sport's Boisters. Always positive, always upbeat. You were a man's man and a guy who made a difference. RIP my friend, never to be forgotten.
