Obituary of Mary F. Gugino

LeRoy ~ Mary F. Gugino, age 95, of Wolcott Street, passed away Friday evening (Dec. 20, 2024) at home in the loving presence of her family.
She was born February 5, 1929 at the family home in LeRoy, a daughter of the late Joseph and Lena Serusa Ferrara.
Mary was a 1947 graduate of LeRoy High School and a 1948 graduate of Eastman School of
Dental Hygiene in Rochester, NY. She worked for three local dentists, including her husband, Dr. Anthony J. Gugino Sr., before “retiring” to raise her children.
Mary will be remembered as a woman of strong faith as well as a devoted wife, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a past member of St. Joseph’s Church and current
member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish. She participated in the St. Joseph’s choir, the Bishop’s
Committee and was a member of the Ladies of Charity.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Anthony (Elizabeth) J. Gugino Jr. and Joan (James)
Ellison; grandchildren, Matthew (Courtney) Gugino, David (Lisa) Ellison, Kristine (Christopher)
Maher, Megan (Egor) Veselov and Paul Ellison; great-grandchildren, Ariana, Alexandra and Delilah Ellison; Emery, Cecily and Bailee Gugino; Walter, Leo and Daniela Maher; Luka and Mila Veselov; brother, Roxy (Josephine) Ferrara, along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Dr. Anthony J. Gugino Sr. (2005); her sisters, Santa O’Geen and Jennie Rizzo; her brothers, Joseph Ferrara and Samuel Ferrara; brothers-in-law, Dominic O’Geen and Leonard Rizzo and sister-in-law, Lena Ferrara.
Special thanks to Mary’s home health aides, Wendy, Peg, Stacey, Laura, Margie, Molly, Debbie and Lesa for their loving care and dedication.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, January 5 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake St. Rd., LeRoy. Her Rite of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 6 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter’s Church, 44 Lake Street, LeRoy.
