Obituary of Louis Nicholas Cinquino

LeRoy ~ Louis Nicholas Cinquino, age 94, of LeRoy, died November 6, 2015. He was born in Batavia on March 3, 1921, son of the late Michael and Elsie Moretto Cinquino. He was employed as Shop Supervisor at DeLuxe Machine and Tool until he retired in 1986. He was honored with many civic awards including: the Outstanding Italian American Award, Paulo Busti Cultural Foundation of Genesee County in 2015; the LeRoyan Award in 1984; and Silver Beaver and the St. George Medal from the Boy Scouts. A veteran of WWII in the Pacific, he served as a leader at home with the American Legion, Botts-Fiorito Post as commander, county commander and post historian. A tireless community volunteer, he was Genesee County Chairman of the Variety Club Telethon; President of Holy Family Home-School Association, GrandKnight and Financial Secretary of the Knights of Columbus and member of the Town and Village Planning Boards. A graduate of Batavia High and the former Batavia Metal Trades and Vocational School, he was a member of St. Joseph’s Church (LeRoy) Holy Name Society, LeRoy Historical Society, Notre Dame High School Sports Boosters and was a 4th Degree member of the Edward Powers Council 2936 Knights of Columbus. His family and Italian heritage were the center of his life. He never missed one of his children’s sporting events. An avid reader, gardener and cook, he has been featured in Organic Gardening. He spoke often of his visit to Vasto, Italy, his father’s ancestral home. He spent the final year of his life at LeRoy Village Green, where he was a light of good cheer to fellow residents and staff. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Rita Argana Cinquino; children, Michael (Michele) of Lancaster, NY, Anthony (Susan) of Rochester, Mary Elizabeth Cinquino of Jamaica Plain, MA and Louis of Bethlehem, PA; grandchildren, Nicholas, Rebecca, Eve and Lucia Cinquino and Maya Rodale; brothers, Joseph of Batavia, and John(Annette) of Kenmore, sisters, Louise Misiti of Medina and Nicolette (Daniel) Lista of Hatfield, PA and 34 nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Joy, Elizabeth Burke and Antoinette Razzano. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 4 ~ 7 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19). His Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter's Church, 44 Lake Street, LeRoy, with interment to follow in St. Francis Cemetery.
