LeRoy ~ MaryAnne C. Sovocool, age 88, formerly of Wolcott Street, passed away Monday (January 27, 2020) at the Eastside Nursing Home in Warsaw, in the loving presence of her family.
She was born October 22, 1931 in Basom, N.Y., a daughter of the late Ray and Elizabeth Carroll Cranston.
MaryAnne will be remembered as a loving, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and dear friend to many. She was a proud 1952 graduate of Cornell University. For many years she taught high school science and special education retiring from Churchville-Chili School. She was very active in the Cornell Alumni Association, was a past 4-H leader, a past Matron of the Eastern Star and a long time member of the LeRoy First Presbyterian Church before she joined in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church and became a member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish.
She is survived by her children, Robert Sovocool (Judy) of LeRoy, Sharon (Gary) Harris of MN, John (Jeanie) Sovocool of Richfield Springs, Wayne (Joan) Sovocool of AL, Daniel (Ber) Sovocool of Portugal, Charles (Suzanne) Sovocool of Fairport, Kathleen DelPlato (Robert) of LeRoy; daughter-in-law, Kathy Sovocool of Batavia; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia in 1973, her son, Kenneth in 2017, two brothers, Arnold "Red" and Phillip Cranston and a sister, Jennie Dahl.
Family and friends may call on Friday from 3 ~ 7 P.M. at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter's Church, 44 Lake St., LeRoy with interment to follow in Machpelah Cemetery.
