Obituary of Laurence E. Hanley Jr.

Akron ~ Laurence E. Hanley Jr., age 82, formerly of LeRoy, passed away Thursday afternoon (May 28, 2020) at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Williamsville.

     He was born November 12, 1937 in Fulton, N.Y., a son of the late Laurence and Mary Welch Hanley Sr.

     Larry will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dear friend to many.  He was a proud U. S. Navy veteran, having served 19 years and then worked for the U. S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for 24 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Akron and the Akron First United Methodist Church.  Larry enjoyed Sunday dinners with his family, the NY Yankees, Buffalo Bills, bowling, along with eating peanuts and drinking beer.

     He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 4 years, Mary Fralick Hanley; his children, Brian (Tammy) Hanley of Batavia, Teresa (John) Phelps of FL, Linda (John) Burger of Caledonia and Wayne (Annie) Hanley of LeRoy; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hanley, along with many nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife of 54 years, Carol Filio Hanley, two sons, Dean Joseph Hanley and Kenneth Hanley, and his brother, Bernie Hanley.

     A public memorial service will be announced at a later date.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Akron First United Methodist Church, 7 Church Street, Akron, N.Y.  14001
