Obituary of James F. Parnell

LeRoy ~ James F. Parnell, age 78, of West Bergen Road, passed away on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 27, 2020) at Strong Memorial Hospital after a courageous fight with leukemia.

     He was born December 24, 1941 in Rochester, a son of the late James L. and Beatrice Saraceni Parnell.

     Jim will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, who always put his family first.  He enjoyed and supported his son's band as well.  He was retired from the New York State Department of Transportation, where he provided 32 years of dedicated service.  Jim was also very proud of his service to his country, having served with the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Conflict.

     He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ruth Rhinehart Parnell; daughter, Debra (Timothy) Szpara of Gates; son, Scott James Parnell of LeRoy; grandchildren, Jessyka, Christina and Johnathan; great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Oliver and Sylas, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

     In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Germaine Berner.

     Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
